SmartDriver is a web-based training program to help improve the skills of professional truck drivers. The program involves quick access to course content that can be viewed anytime and anywhere as long as there is an internet connection available. The program is free and it helps truck drivers, including companies to improve their fuel efficiency and vehicle maintenance. From progressive shifting to fuel-saving and maintenance, the program is comprehensive,
and those who complete it with 80% and above get a certificate of achievement.
Below mentioned are safety tips for every driver:

1. Keep away from distractions

Talking on the phone and being preoccupied with listening to music or eating is not how one should drive. Most fatal crashes involve driver distractions. If you are not able to give your undivided attention on the road, kindly safely pull over. Keeping your phone in the glove box is a great way to keep your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road at all times.

2. Drive carefully
Instead of speeding up to a red light, take your foot off the gas and slow down before breaking. Driving carefully is great in all aspects of driving.

3. Avoid driving tired
It can be tempting to keep driving for a couple of hours on a long journey. However, driving a commercial truck when you are feeling tired or sleepy increases the risk of you being involved in an accident. Take breaks now and then on a long journey anytime you feel tired or sleepy. Do not rely on coffee to keep you alert.

4. Inspect your vehicle
Now and then regularly inspect your vehicle. A good practice is to inspect your vehicle before every trip to ensure any unforeseen events. Regularly check the fluids in your vehicle, including tyre pressure etc.

5. Always look right
When making a right-hand turn, it is common for many to look left. But if you are turning onto a two-lane road, you should look right and ensure no other vehicle is using your lane to pass. It may sound like a minute thing, but this extra second can help you avoid a head-on collision.

6. Slow down
Speeding does not ensure you reach your destination on time or well beyond time. It significantly eats up your fuel efficiency, put you in a potential position to receive a ticket, and most importantly increases your chances of getting in a crash. Be being cautious on the road, you can avoid the above-mentioned disasters.

7. Look out for others on the road
When you see somebody on the road facing difficulty, you can extend support by either helping them or calling roadside assistance to help with their problem.

Stay Calm and Focused:

On the exam day, stay calm and focused. Arrive early, get a good night's sleep, and eat a healthy meal beforehand. Take deep breaths and visualize yourself passing the exam with flying colours. Remember, you've put in the time and effort to prepare, and you're ready for this challenge.

Follow Instructions Carefully:

Listen carefully to the instructions provided by the examiner and follow them to the letter. Pay attention to speed limits, lane changes, and signalling procedures. Following instructions correctly demonstrates your competence and professionalism as a driver.
